We have designed and built more dental practices on Tyneside than anywhere else in the country. From a Georgian townhouse in North Shields to a former bank in Jarrow, most of our North East work has been within half an hour of Newcastle.

The buildings we work with here

Tyneside practices are rarely purpose-built. Ours have been Georgian and Victorian townhouses, converted retail units and high-street terraces — buildings with generous proportions and awkward services. Period features are usually worth keeping: the ceiling roses, cornicing and staircases in these buildings do more for a patient’s first impression than anything we could install.

What tends to matter locally

Much of the housing stock is listed or in a conservation area, which affects signage, windows and external alterations. Floor-to-ceiling heights are generous but structural openings often need care, and older properties frequently need the drainage and electrical capacity upgrading before a surgery can go in at all. We survey for this before any design work starts.
